Ram Super Bowl ad trumps Budweiser's Clydesdale in YouTube contest

Ram’s stark and gritty two-minute Super Bowl commercial beat out Budweiser’s emotional Clydesdale commercial for the top spot in this year’s YouTube Ad Blitz contest.

The annual contest asks the public to watch and vote for their favorite Super Bowl commercials.

This year, Ram’s ad finished first and its Jeep commercial with Oprah Winfrey narrating a tribute to America’s military finished fourth.

Budweiser’s commercial with a horse trainer and a Clydesdale he trained was second, followed by Samsung’s “The Next Big Thing,” while Hyundai’s commercial about neighborhood kids banning together to form a football team was fifth.

According to YouTube, the top five ads generated more than 61 million views on YouTube.

“Sometimes in a very noisy environment, a quiet, intimate tone speaks louder than all the competing noise,” Michael Yapp, director of YouTube, said in a blog post today. “Paul Harveyâ€" his voice, his credibility; his association with the heartland; his folksy paean to a place and time we all felt was lost, lent an authenticity and a heartfelt note to the aspirations of a country that sometimes seems to have strayed from its moral compass.”
